REIMS FRANCE DAY 7

30/08/2011
Reims and Chalon Sur Saone in France
A familiar stop over the last few years has been the straight in Reims, the historic racing circuit has been preserved over the years and is always a great stop for a photo opportunity. A new road layout and bridge has just been completed which meant that the straight was quieter then normal, I can understand why the stands and areas have been cleaned up around the circuit but it seems to clean and has lost that historic feel to the buildings. With only 160 odd miles left we said goodbye to Reims and headed off to Calais, bearing in mind that we had covered nearly 2500 miles and nine countries in seven days it seemed ironic that the only hostility we would come across would be the UK border control. With the channel tunnel strike over the weekend looking as it could cause us problems we were expecting a two hours tint among thousands of other Brits, fortunately having pre-booked we were on time to travel back on the single story carriages. It has been a great week with some amazing hotels, roads, cars, photographs and to top it off with the drive around Mont Ventoux was a great way to end the trip. Just need to clean those thousands of bugs off the car now!
