MONT VENTOUX DAY 6
29/08/2011
It's fair to say that the 3 series wasn't the best car that would grace these roads, with sweeping curves and challenging hairpins it was still an amazing drive, plus it had delivered an average of 44 mpg which included the autobahns and low gears around the passes at St Moritz and through to Italy. The whole route from either side of the mountain covers 14 kilometres, once we arrived at the summit the view was breathtaking, seeing stretches of the road as it weaves around Ventoux highlighted the route that we had taken. Without a doubt the best road that we had covered all week, if not to date on the many tours of Europe that we have covered. Our final nights stay was at Hotel St George's which lies in the heart of the Cathedral town of Chalon Sur Saone. The menu was created by Michelin star chef Georg Blanc which was a nice way to end our tour at another fine dining restaurant. Back to Blighty tomorrow after covering nine countries and 2500 miles of tarmac, an unbelievable trip and some good memories.
