St EDMUND's SCHOOL PORTRAITS PHOTOGRAPHY KENT

Louise Moelwyn-Hughes is the new head at St Edmund's and the portraits of her were to be in a similar style to some that I had taken last year, this was so that they fitted in with the website and any new material that was to be printed. We used some indoor and outdoor locations, the key was to use natural light with the warmth of the ambient light in the background, 85mm lens was used for all of the portraits, and at an aperture of F2.2 allowed the background to be lit with a nice warmth whilst the window light coming through created some nice natural skin tones. With the portraits outside I used the archways at the back of the school where the buildings sandstone exterior gave a nice backdrop, a shallow depth of field was used again as not to distract from the subject.
