CANTERBURY CATHEDRAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Photography for Canterbury Cathedral
I had a list of five areas to cover, these included a group photo of the apprentices who cover masonry, carpentry and painting, an area by the Deans steps where a new lift had been installed but was tucked away with very little visibility, top of the Corona to cover some aerial photographs of the archive roof which badly needs the copper replacing and then off to Broad Oak where the Cathedral has a new industrial unit where the limestone is delivered and then resized by a massive circular saw.

For the images around by the cloisters I used a tripod with a five second exposure and F22 to retain loads of detail, if anything the images came out a bit too light, on this case the camera does lie so post production I brought them back to the real light level. After finishing off at the Cathedral I headed off to the unit in Broad Oak where the Cathedral is looking for funding for a new machine to go along side the huge circular saw, I couldn't get too close but with the 70mm lens and a shutter speed of 1/50th of a second produced a tight crop and some motion of the saw gliding through the lime stone.
