CANTERBURY CATHEDRAL ANTHONY GORMLEY SCULPTURE
27/01/2011
The work of art is suspended by a single wire and is the size of a real life person, with the wire delicately balanced the sculpture moves around in a circular motion extremely slowly. It is suspended in the crypt and floats between Thomas the Becket's new and old burial location. Their is an official unveiling of the work on Sunday but the Cathedral were keen to get some photographs of the statue as soon as it was erected in the crypt.
I used the tripod for most of the images, apart from some close up ones of the nails. Settings were ISO 400, F11 and shutter speeds varying between 1-4 seconds which were just ideal, any longer and their would have been a slight blur due to the sculpture moving around. I covered various angles and also some portrait shots of Anthony Gormley's sculpture. The work will be on display for at least a year and is certainly worth taking a look at.
