THE FULL MONTE DAY 1
24/08/2011
After meeting up with everybody at Eastwell Manor in Ashford for the briefing and group photo we set off in convoy down to the channel tunnel, with Al on board we opted to take the 3 series BMW diesel, a sensible choice plus at least we would have the best fuel economy out of everybody on the trip. Once in to France it was a full on drive down to the infamous Nurburgring track deep in the heart of Germany. With our allocated slot from 5.30-7.15pm everyone arrived on time, with a variety of hot laps with instructors who were test drivers for Porsche on hand plus the option to take your own car round it was a great start to the six days ahead. Being taken round the circuit for the first time by organiser Alex Hamilton in an Audi R8 V10 was a great experience. Once the laps were completed and the circuit closed we had a short drive to our first destination, the Steinberger hotel in Bonn which sat at the top of a twisting mountain road. It was a good opportunity for everyone to relax after a full on day of driving and to get to know each other for the week ahead. On to Friedrichsure tomorrow where we will be taking in the Rhein river as well as some other German landmarks.
