ST EDMUND'S SCHOOL, CANTERBURY - SUMMERFEST 2011
08/08/2011
After seeing where everything was happening around the school I started covering the photography with the indoor activities, which was dancing and circus skills, the gym has a very heavy tungsten hue to the lighting so a wide aperture of 2.8 and over exposing by 2/3rds to lift the cast caused by the artificial lighting, raising the ISO to 800 also lifted the tones and allowed for shutter speeds of 1/80th of a second upwards. The same scenario for the dance photos, loads of movement and restricted shutter speeds meant using some panning techniques to capture the dancers. After covering a few staged photos of the outdoor swimming events it was then over to the cycling arena where their were a number of different techniques the children were being taught, loads of smiles and bright colours from the bikes and outfits made the images strong and vivid. Back on Wednesday to cover more events, including bouncy castles, music and football.
