BELL INTERNATIONAL, HOMERTON COLLEGE IN CAMBRIDGE
27/07/2011
Homerton College is the base for Bell's foreign teachers where they enrol to improve English and other teaching skills. The areas that my self & Clare covered were classroom based in the morning, including interaction with the tutors and also some profile portraits of some teachers who were being interviewed for the website and the new brochure. The afternoon was to cover a lecture by Mike McCarthy who is an expert in the English language, after some audience photos and images of Mike it was back outside to take advantage of the blue skies, their first appearance today, with the grand hall being the main focal point of the college it also gave us an opportunity to cover some group images which could be used for the main cover of the forthcoming brochure. The last event of the day that was to be covered was an evening of music and poetry by Jeremy Harmer, along with a fellow musician he created spoken word with a background of live violins being looped which created a very atmospheric feel to the music being performed, light wasn't great so reverted to manual mode, 1/60 @ F2 on the 135mm lens, ISO 1000. works a treat every time and the tight cropping of the 135 lens close up gave some very intimate shots. Clare covered a mix of wide angle and close up portraits with the 85mm 1.8 lens which was wide open due to the lighting in the hall.
