CAR PHOTOGRAPHY COURSE AT BROOKLANDS MUSEUM, SURREY
22/05/2011
As seems to be the theme with these courses the heavens opened as we arrived just before 10am, with four convertibles present it was a case of roofs up and time for a briefing for the photographers and a coffee before we started on todays car course. The main emphasis on these courses is about composition, lighting and exposure control as the venue itself has a wide range of backdrops available, with most of the cars being silver and with the sun appearing on and off it created some challenges for the attendees and exposure control was very much a major part of the challenge, looking at the results everybody coped well and with bracketing ensured that they had a good set of images of each of the cars.
In addition to the cars already mentioned their was a welcome return to Rob's Merlin kit car and I had been loaned a BMW Z4 roadster for the day by Broad Oak BMW in Canterbury, this was also a good opportunity for me to capture some abstract car photos for the art commission by the dealership. Once we had started on the banking it was a case of moving around the venue and placing the cars in challenging environments, with Concorde recently being moved to face in to the airfield that was our last location of the day. Many thanks to Peter Maskell for his kind words about the course. This just to say what a fantastic time I had with you today. It just goes to show that you are never too old to learn. I was given my first camera when I was seven years old, that was sixty years ago, it was an Ilford 120 that started my fascination with photography. Today, however, I have learned even more and in future I will not be using the "auto" setting nearly as much as before, even if ever. If ever you need a recommendation for your photograph courses you can include me 100%".
For future courses please contact me, their are still places available on the 13th August and September 11th.
