MONIN
13/05/2011
From an initial meeting with the clients PR company the previous photographs that had been taken for earlier adverts were poorly lit, either on the waiter or the background. Knowing that we may not have a great deal of space inside the venue (which was the case) I opted to take two speedlights, two stands, HDV-Z96 LED lights and a tripod. After a few initial test shots we then had the right settings and lighting balance for Maxim, the bar and the product. Settings were as shown on the diagram below, the flash guns were powered down and at an aperture of F13 this gave a good depth of detail on Maxim and the products behind. I can not add how important and superb the LED lights are as they created a very important fill light on the cocktail and Monin bottle, they are so compact and replaced the need for a further flash or larger light. Their is only essentially one photo that will be used so this was very much a case of setting up some different poses, with shaker, with drink and bottle and so on. After finishing at the Lab we then preceded to get some lunch and have a look through the RAW files, after sending over a proof to the client it was the back home on the High Speed to Canterbury.
