CANTERBURY CHRIST CHURCH UNIVERSITY
10/05/2011
I started off at Augustine House which was just for a PR photograph as one of the students had won an iPad in a recent survey that the University had held. Next stop was over to St Gregory's Church where the students have lessons, the church is after funding for a series of improvements to it and these portraits are to be used for banners, leaflets and web use, very much a case f shooting a mix of portrait and landscape photos so that the designers have some flexibility with the layouts.
After a quick coffee break it was over to the radiology department to cover one of the students taking an X Ray of a fracture, loads of tungsten light so some fill in flash was needed to balance the warm cast and to create a more natural tone to the image. After covering some portraits and a business meeting with the Senior Management team it was over to the main campus to cover the last set of photos, author David Crystal was giving a lecture on his career where he has written over 120 books, I had about then minutes to cover a mix of group photos and portraits, used the 85mm 1.8 for the photo of David below, natural light with 2/3 rds over exposure again to lift the warmth of the lighting and create a cooler feel to the final image.
