BARRETT'S LAND ROVER ASHFORD PHOTOGRAPHY
21/04/2011
It was almost an ideal day for external photographs at the showroom, sun, blue skies and a relatively quiet forecourt which gave me the opportunity to look for the best angles. The only problem was the top of the showroom with the bright white of the cladding tricking the metering of the camera, generally I would just over expose by 0.33 but with this blowing out the detail I decided to under expose by -0.33, knowing that with the RAW files I could always just lighten it up a bit if I needed to, this would also retain the detail in the sky and in return keep the rich blue of the sky as well. The large photo shown below was at the side of the building where it was in the shade, I used a low down angle to give a more dramatic effect and to include the Discovery in the photo leading in to the Barrett's logo. With the strong sun just over the edge of the building I used part of it to introduce light rays in to the image, this gave the final shot a contrasty and vibrant feel to it, rather then just being a straight forward photo of a sign.
