WILDLIFE STOCK PHOTOGRAPHY
19/03/2011
Wingham Wildlife Park is situated just a few miles outside of Canterbury and is home to a variety of animals, including Meerkats, Otters, Penguins and Reptiles and is set in a parkland which covers a large area where the animals have a great freedom to roam around in, also great for photographers.
The kit I used today was the 1D MK 3, 70-200mm lens and 100mm Macro lens, both ideal for wildlife photography. The zoom lens gives great flexibilty for isolating individual animals and with its shallow depth of field is great for throwing the background out. The 100mm Macro came in to its own for the reptile photographs, with them being housed in large glass containers the lens needs to be as near to the glass as possible to minimise any reflections and with the lens hood attached it does this job superbly, with any close up lens you need to be steady at all times as any movement will show on the final image due to the accuracy of the focusing involved. Finished off the day with the Lemurs and Penguins outside, with the bright sunshine the white fur of the Lemurs was blowing out so the alternative was to shoot against the sun and crop in tightly on the animal. I came away with a great set of images but feel that I didn't get the fluffy cute images that the card companies could be after, be interesting for the feedback and could be another visit soon!
