BROOKLANDS BREAKFAST CAR MEETING
20/02/2011
It was good to see Keith and Jamie from Brands Hatch Morgan's at the event as well this morning, we had permission to use the banking and surrounding areas to capture some photos of the new Sport and Keith's earlier model. Great contrast in black and white with the aid of some off camera flash the cars really stood out against the track and planes that were used as backdrops. After covering a variety of settings it was then time to cover the event itself and capture a mix of classic and modern car photographs, their was a great mix of Panhards, Escort Mexico's, Lamborghinis and my all time favourite a Porsche 356. I also used today to get some contacts for cars for my monthly car photography courses which are being held at the venue, even though it wasn't the nicest of days the light was very neutral which is ideal for car photography, the aid of the off camera flash just gives you a little flexibility in lighting up some of te chrome and wheels of the vehicles for the static shots.
Today was also a good opportunity to put the new Canon Mark 4 to the test, it's a great companion to the Mark 3 and with an improved sensor, higher pixel count and vastly improved ISO is a serious contender to the full frame 5D mark 2, in fact in tests so far I would say that the ISO is marginally better. The tests in the aircraft hangar at Brooklands were testament to it's great performance, plus the 1D's are a joy to handle with the battery grip all built in to the body. After 12.30 it was time for a quick coffee and then back to Canterbury, for more information on the breakfast clubs please visit the BROOKLANDS website, with Spring just around the corner I can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday morning.
