ST EDMUND'S SCHOOL, CANTERBURY - SUMMERFEST 2011

As the coverage was a mix of indoor arts and outside sports photography I had the two 1D's with the 24-70mm & 70-200mm lenses fitted. With two hours to cover gymnastics, martial arts, football, cricket, pottery, music, art and tennis photography it was very much a case of working off the cuff and taking the images in situ rather then having the luxury of setting shots up, I tend to prefer working this way as the children act more naturally and with sports photography it os the only way to get real action images. The session finished with a tennis tournament, just sightsee the net I put the camera in to TV priority dialled in a shutter speed of 1/500th of a second and ISO 400, fast enough to freeze the action but also just enough to add a sense of movement as well, too fast and everything can look static.
