The traditional london to Brighton classic car run is in November, dating back to the 1920's it is an opportunity for true vintage cars to drive from the capital down to the seaside resort of Brighton. Classic motor events have been running their alternative event for twenty eight years now, classics, modern, sports and kit cars can participate in the summer months...
I have been covering this event for six years now and today the sunshine resumed after last years wet weather at Greenwich Park, today the three hundred plus cars took off from Mercedes Benz world in Weybridge. The Brooklands Hotel was a contrast to a lot of the classic cars participating in the event and the blue skies added a nice contrast to the whole image.

Now in its 28th year the Classic motor event team are constantly improving on the number of cars taking part, with over 300 taking part today it was going to be a busy mornings photography. Pretty much anyone can take part in the event and to see vintage Rolls Royces next to Ferrari's and Porsche 911's shows the eclectic mix on display. Nice to see some classic Ford Capri's and Escort's taking part in the event.

Car photography wise it is very much a case of capturing the pre event build up of drivers and passengers arriving as they prep there cars for the journey ahead to Brighton. The key shot then is to photograph each car as it leaves the Mercedes Benz complex, next to the classic car banner and then to wave them off. Lens wise the 24-70mm was used all morning, good range with the focal lengths. It also worked nicely for some panning photos as the cars descended down the Mercedes test track to join the grid of cars for the obligatory bacon rolls before the journey to the seaside.
