The contemporary bar, restaurant and hotel overlooks one of the yacht basins at the former Royal Naval Dockyard, with extensive waterfront seating offering panoramic views of the pleasure boats and across the River Medway to historic Upnor Castle.

Visitors can also enjoy the view from inside the Ship and Trades’ wrap-around restaurant with floor to ceiling glazing overlooking the marina. The 15-bedroom hotel also has a comfortable lounge area and two ‘snugs’ for more intimate gatherings. Its décor is inspired by its nautical heritage, as the structure was originally home to dockyard offices and an engineering shop in the late 19th century. Their was plenty of detailed areas to cover, all based on naval and local themes.

The pub and restaurant photography covered over a nine hour period and included a vast selection of people, interior, exterior and abstract images. The Ship and Trades has its own standalone website and the photos will be refreshed over the course of time, also they will be used for internal and external publications and online marketing. During the course of the day guests were arriving for lunch and dinner, due to the longer evenings now the lighting stayed pretty consistent, and with the large expanse of glass that surrounds the restaurant I had plenty of natural light to work with.
