YIANNIS CHRISTODOULOU ATHLETIC PORTRAITS

Yiannis received an email from British Triathlon, stating he had qualified for the Great Britain Aquathlon squad to race in France at the European Championships on June 24th. In 2015 he decided to compete in Aquathlon’s as swimming and running are his strongest disciplines. After coming off a successful winter’s training Yiannis was hoping to compete at a good level but making the GB squad was not something he thought would happen. It was only after his first couple of Aquathlon’s that he was informed he had a good chance, so In September he entered the London league Hackney Splash and Dash, which was only the 4th Aquathlon. Yiannis finished 2nd and took 2 minutes off his last race and therefore had the time and position for the GB squad.

Yiannis' ambitions are to just go out and enjoy the experience, he aims to do well although training will be tough for it as he balances his full time job. First stop is the British Championships in Leeds on the 11th of June which will give him a clear indication where he is with the training. Two weeks later the European Championships, he is hoping to compete in the World championships in Mexico in September but that is dependant on funding. If not the aim will be to compete in the worlds next year as they are in Europe.

The sports portraits were taken at my offices in Canterbury, opposite the woodlands provided a good location for some running photos, and at the back of the Innovation Centre is a tiered car park, with Yiannis standing on the top set of steps this gave me a low down viewpoint in which to cut out the background and just concentrate on the mottled sky, lighting was with the Profit B1 flash, under exposing the image manually produced a set of atmospheric sporting portraits which Yiannis will be able to use for advertising and promotional use.
