The car I had today was the 3 litre 300PS XF S, this combines V6 power and sporting luxury in breathtaking style. The precise handling is thanks to its Sports Suspension and excellent ride quality from Adaptive Dynamics with Configurable Dynamics. The performance is matched with the S body styling and red brake calipers, 19 inch alloy wheels, twin exhausts, a sleek rear spoiler and unique interior styling.

The location for todays car photography shoot was at the Chatham Historic Dockyards, a location which has been used for numerous TV and film shoots. It had taken a few weeks to combine the loan of the car from Barretts Jaguar and confirming times with the dockyard, so the combination of dramatic clouds and sunshine worked perfectly for the photography today. Lighting was with natural light and a single Profoto B1 flash, the white of the car was perfect as it popped out of the back street locations and also against the stunning battleships that are a key attraction at the Historic Dockyard.

I wanted to highlight the dockyards as it is a great setting and really sets the theme for the saloon car and links in the heritage of the site, especially the brickwork and buses and trains that are on site. Lens wise I used the 24-70mm, a good all rounder and gave me the ability to create some wider setting the scene images, the location being a big part of the shoot, sometimes with shoots you crop in tighter on the car as the backdrops can be too busy or distracting, not the case today.

A big thank you to Chatham Maritime for allowing me to use the location and also Barrett's Jaguar in Canterbury for the loan of the XF S saloon, a great car which is a leap ahead of the previous model in terms of looks, comfort and handling.
