BLOG 2016

I had a meeting at Brands Hatch Morgan sports cars in Kent at the weekend, no real plans to take any photos but a gorgeous 1972 4/4 was sitting at the back of the dealers compound, in classic British Racing green paintwork it seemed the perfect addition to my weekly car photography shoot series for 2016...
The Morgan 4/4 was the Morgan Motor Company's first car with four wheels. It appeared in 1936. Its model designation "4-4" (later "4/4") stood for four wheels and four cylinders. Earlier Morgans had been three-wheelers, only, typically with V-twin engines. Apart from a break during World War II the 4/4 has been in continuous production from its debut right up to the present day. Engine capacity has increased from the 1,122 cc Coventry Climax engine in 1936 to a 1.8-litre Ford engine in 2004 (except of a 997cc Kent engine between 1960 and 1961), although it is currently back down to 1,595 cc.

Brands Hatch Morgan have a great reputation nationally and in Europe for quality sales and servicing for classic and modern Morgans, I have covered a variety of photography for the dealership over the years and always enjoy popping in for a chat and coffee. The next Morgan that I will photograph is going to be the all new Aero 8 model, with revised suspension and a more focused driving set up it looks likely to be an alternative to the modern day supercars.
