Jo had asked if I could photograph her horse Holly as she is twenty five years old now and was after a selection of portraits of her. The stables just outside of Canterbury provided a quiet countryside location for the horse photography in Kent, an added bonus was a moody sky which also had a warm hue to it. Always difficult to know how animals are going to react to artificial lighting so the small yet powerful Canon Speed Lite 600EX was compact enough to hide among some overgrown grass, Holly actually responded to the light by pricking her ears up which made for some strong portraits. I underexposed in camera manually to just give enough fill in flash to light the horse, this in tun under exposed the sky to give more definition to the clouds.
