The Jaguar XE supercharged has some impressive stats, 340 bhp, 0-60 sub 5 seconds and £45,000. The top of the range S designation model is to show off what Jaguar will be building on over the next year as runners are that the 5 litre V8 will make an appearance in a much more hardcore version of the XE, this will the be pitted against the BMW M3 and Mercedes C63 AMG. Although the 340 bhp isn't the fastest engine in the F Type it works well and gives a nice overall balance in a stunning looking package, in the XE it is a little more muted but fits the bill, this is a small executive saloon. There is a nice low down growl from the engine when it is wound up and it covers ground with very little effort. The rear suspension has an integral link which is Jaguars way of balancing the cars lightweight aluminium construction together, when pushed hard the car handles like a hot hatch, its balance and poise is amazing allowing you to have a great deal of fun in an executive saloon.

The model that I drove had a list price of just under £52,000, the 20" propellor alloys are an £800 option but give the car an even more aggressive stance, plus the ride even in dynamic mode was still fantastic. Other extras were the panoramic sunroof, meridian hi fi, lane assist, surround cameras and the black pack which finishes off the exterior of the car, a nice contrast with the stunning Italian racing red metallic paintwork. If you can't stretch to the 3 litre I would not hesitate to recommend the 200 or 240 bhp petrol engines, still packing good performance and sublime handling which is the top of its class in this sector, don't believe me then just look at the motoring press reviews. Jaguar have produced a winner.

In terms of location for the car photography I used the backdrop of Heli Charter in Manston, Kent. The company offers a wide range of helicopters for charter nationwide. There services include charters for corporate travel, private flights, sight-seeing tours and self-fly hire, as well as offering aircraft sales. The modern glass fronted building provided a clean look to the photos with the metallic red of the XE really standing out in the frame.
