BROOKLANDS MUSEUM 1940's RELIVED EVENT PHOTOGRAPHY

The event in its fourth year now centred more about the characters in their 40's attire, these ranged from the UK and US armed forces to a whole host of characters, including Winston Churchill, Monty and Patton. The weather was perfect for the day and their was a real street party atmosphere, especially in the Vicker's Suite where 40's dancing was going on. The Home Guard were on patrol throughout the day and a vintage portrait studio was set up in the Barbara Cartland room, before she wrote raunchy novels she was a motor racing journalist. The event always has great characters attending in vintage outfits and today I concentrated on portraits of couples who had made a real effort with authentic wartime and civilian outfits.

Kit wise today I wanted to travel light so used the 1DX and 50 mm lens, perfect for capturing candids and portraits of the characters at the event. The sun was resplendent in the crisp blue sky and acted nicely to back light the subjects.
