PHOTOGRAPHY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF KENT CANTERBURY

The School of Engineering has a long history of successful enterprise activities through the Electronic Systems Design Centre (ESDC), which has assisted in the development of over 100 products since it was established with DTI funding in 1995. Alongside this, is the new Digital Media Hub which is designed to bring together the creativity of the school’s Multimedia Technology and Design undergraduates and graduates, with businesses in the region. The photography had to show a mix of areas in this field of technology, some of the guidelines had to be adhered to for the Universities specific designs, this included a set of images to be in portrait orientation, mainly for brochure and leaflet purposes.

The rest of the images were to be used for the departments website and other areas, mainly an update as they had some new equipment installed and towards the end of last year the whole building had been modernised. Lighting wise due to the outside sunshine and also modern lighting in the labs the 16-35mm and 70-200mm lenses worked perfectly to give a variety of viewpoints, the shallow depth of field of the zoom at 2.8 always produces great depth of field to lose background detail.
