BLOG 2018

Following up from a studio session for automotive detailing firm Auto Useful earlier in the year, today was based at the companies offices and covering some themed product photography set ups...
John Somer, owner of Auto Useful and the Protex brand wanted to use the products in a classic setting. The use of old radios, car brochures and other period items worked nicely with the product which has a reputation in the classic car world for its quality, plus it is also produced in the UK. We used a variety of backdrops as John had a specific brief for the website which was going to have a makeover in the next few weeks. John had also asked for a selection of classic and sports car photographs from my stock library.

I used two Profoto lights, the B2 and A1 which with its reduced power over the larger 250 watt light gave a nice soft fill light, with black bottles I wanted the edges and shadows to be defended against the various backdrops that we used. The product photography session finished with a portrait of John against his beautiful Rover P100 which will be used for the website contact page and other media outlets.
